Is Reputation Repair Agencies Helpful?

Online reputation repair agencies are popping up everywhere. They appear to be the logical solution to tarnished reputations, and the growing need for increased customer service.

In my opinion, online reputation repair agencies are not the best choice for you, as there are a number of considerations to make before going down this road. We all know that reputation is not something we want, so it only makes sense to protect it from the consequences of negative publicity. This can sometimes take on a life of its own, leading to so much that could go wrong.

The first thing to do is to know what kind of negative press was being directed at your company. Is it purely negative?

Is there some validity to it? Was it sourced from a credible source? Or is it 100% based on hearsay?

Reputation repair agencies could try to solve all these problems, but if they attempt to do this, they are bound to fail, because everyone’s business is different. However, when you’re dealing with highly sensitive information that will affect your reputation, you don’t want to take any chances.

If you can demonstrate there is no negative press being broadcast against your company, then there is no reason to think the online reputation agency should intervene. In fact, if there is a problem, they should let you know so you can take action to correct it.

The company I’ve been using these days was established by a former lawyer, who cares a lot about the quality of service I receive. She’s a former representative for Pfizer, where she worked her way up to Management. This is an example of how good reputation repair agencies can work; the agencies hire people who understand the issues that exist with their client and who can improve upon those issues.

Reputation repair agencies have to take on board the concept that some companies are the ones that should be protecting your reputation, not the other way around. Good companies won’t do that, nor should they do anything to tarnish it.

Remember, if the online reputation of your company is not intact, no one is interested in your product or service. If the public doesn’t trust you, how can they pay you? It’s as simple as that.

Let’s face it, the online reputation of a company can be dangerous if it has failed to deliver on their promises. The worst that can happen is that they might be sued for malpractice, but once you’ve made a bad decision and lost your reputation, it’s very hard to recover.

Therefore, you must have your own customer’s feedback and follow the laws of every country. I hope you’ll please consider this.

The idea of using reputational agencies is not new, but the reason they’re now here is that customers have realised how important their reputation really is. Use them wisely, and you might just get better value for money.
